Mottled Orange Peel Glass Frosted
Mottled glass is first produced by pressing molten glass against a mould with a subtle, irregular ‘orange peel’ surface, imparting a random pattern that diffuses light. The surface is then frosted through acid etching or sandblasting, overlaying the texture with a uniform micro roughness. This dual process forms a highly diffuse material combining gentle light distortion with significant obscurity.
This seamless 4K PBR material simulates the complex surface by combining a high frequency normal map for mottling with a high roughness value for the frosted finish. This approach accurately portrays the wobbly distortion of the pattern while scattering transmitted light for a soft, luminous effect. Perfect for high privacy applications, lighting fixtures, and decorative panels, it achieves a deeply layered, authentic translucency.
Optimized for Metallic/Roughness workflows. (Note: For Specular/Glossiness workflow, simply invert the Roughness map inside your render engine).
These dimensions serve as guidance, ensuring realism and consistency. All assets are encouraged to be used flexibly and can be scaled accordingly to suit different scales or art-directed scenarios.
